FTC Compliance and Blogging

I learn something new every day. Today I learned that the Federal Trade Commission has made it mandatory for bloggers (and users of other social media platforms) to disclose affiliate/endorsement relationships. How exactly, I'm still looking into. It would appear that it doesn't have to be anything lengthy, just some type of disclosure.

For the record, any couponing website you visit contains affiliate links. Every time you print a coupon, someone is making money. Most blogs might make enough to cover the costs associated with hosting, buying and keeping their domain, paying to list their site somewhere, etc. Owning and operating your own .com is NOT free (and if there is a way, I'd LOVE to know!). Websites run promotions and you can get good deals or cash back, but that's still not free. And even if it were, in the realm of couponing blogs, there's still a person on the other end of cyberspace pecking away at the keyboard for hours to provide you with quality information they think you'll want to hear.
